Poetry by Jerry Schafer

Male Logic

After twenty centuries we still
believe in the magic of 'right' and 'wrong,'
toss the fairy dust of reason's rightness
into the eyes of all who dare question
the rightness of our correctness,
the rightness of our botched wars,
the rightness of deceit, greed and pimping,
all in the name of the father, the land, daddy.

We wave our wand of alchemical logic
into the face of abstract doubters,
take out our sword to make
concrete our conclusions,
return home to face the curves
thrown by women.

BIO:  Jerry Schaefer grew up in Cut Bank, Montana, where the fierce winds began to blow around the thoughts in his head. The winds died down but the thoughts didn't as he moved from Wisconsin to California. Married with three grandkids, he now pens thoughts to paper.
